[sailwave] Digest Number 540

Colin,
Thanks for replies.
You have a lot of "to do`s" can you list them so perhaps we, your faithful
disciples, could suggest priorities?

Subject: v1.50 uploaded + word/excel

Hi,

v1.50 has been uploaded. The only change is the addition of a Team 15
team-ranking table plug-in.

PS: by far the biggest complaint I get (well, apart from no help file) is
the fact that I removed the dedicated publish-to-word/excel capability.
The reason I removed these is because not everybody uses word/excel, and

so

it was generalised to a publish-to-this-program capability; same
functionality but a little more difficult to use. However given the
quantity of feedback, I'll put the original hard-wired features back by

they

appear on a different tab called publish to a specific program of

something;

may well be user-extensible and/or may well not appear if word/excel are

not

installed. I'll do this for 1.51.

Please note however that Sailwave knows *nothing* about Excel/Word - it

just

creates a HTML file and opens it with Word/Excel; a better solution is to
work on the style sheets to get Sailwave to product exactly what is needed
to edit. If you are finding you have to edit in Excel/Word (or by hand
etc), please send an email to the group pointing at an example on the web

so

we can try and minimise this; I suspect much of it can be done by editing
the templates/style sheets.

NB: I am gradually getting through my Inbox after a busy period of real
work, but some 140 emails are still outstanding; apologies for the delay

(as

usual) if you are waiting for a reply.

Regards,
Colin J

Whatever delimiter is being used the units are always hours minutes and
seconds. The RRS do not allow fractions of seconds in fact.

If you know HTML it's easy. Copy results.htm from sailwave\templates to
sailwave\my templates and then add some text to the template in the
appropriate place.

IMS is not integrated yet. You can do 'simple' IMS using the custom

rating

system. I have a lot of info from Mike Gill WRT IMS and will implement
ASAP...

Not at present - I'm gradually working away on the concept of 'starts' -

bit

like 'fleets' but define how the boats sailed, wheres fleets will define

how

the boats are scored. Presently 'fleets' covers both and fails.

The popup delay etc is controlled by windows but I've never been able to
find the setting - perhaps somebody else knows.

here is the text.

discards profile:-

"A comma separated list of discards when 1,2,3,4
etc races have been sailed; e.g. 0,0,0,1,1,2,2.
The last value is used if the number of races
sailed is greater then the number of entries in the
profile. Alternatively the discard profile can be
defined by an expression. Use s for the number
of races sailed and r for the number of races in
the series; e.g. s/2+1. The result of the
expression is truncated to the nearest whole
number and represents the number of discards."

Qualification profile:-

"Only needed if your SIs specify that competitors
must sail N races to qualify for a series. A comma
separated list of number of races needed to
qualify for the series when 1,2,3,4 etc races
have been sailed; e.g. 1,2,3,3,4,4,5,5. The last
value is used if the number of races sailed is
greater then the number of entries in the profile.
Alternatively the qualification profile can be
defined by an expression. Use s for the number
of races sailed and r for the number of races in
the series."

As it stands I can't see a way to do it. You can do them both

separately -

set up OOD for average points and set up a Q requirement - but there is no
way to force a competitor to have to have an OOD in their results. It

would

be easy (generalised to a list of codes that must be present) to do if it
was a common enough requirement.

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for replies.
You have a lot of "to do`s" can you list them so perhaps we, your faithful
disciples, could suggest priorities?

There is a development plan on the web site - click on the 'getting help'
page and then click the link to go to the 'on-line help system' and find the
development link. However this list is behind the coal-face 'cos I update
it from emails that are in my todo folder in Outlook; there are 68
outstanding emails to integrate to the dev plan at present (and only 40 left
in the Inbox).

Free free to suggest-away...
