sailwave doesn't start

Hi,

I've just downloaded and installed sailwave. Unfortunately when I attempt to start the program absolutely nothing happens. I've clicked the sailwave icon, I've run from the command line, but nothing happens.

I'm using Windows XP SP3, any suggestions as to what may be wrong? Can I get it to generate a log file so I can see if it's even running.

Thanks

Andy J

If you run Task Manager, do you see Sailwave under Applications?

Is your PC 32 bit or 64 bit? There was an issue with 64bit a while back.

Andy,

I presume you have Sailwave installed under C:/program files/Sailwave and there’s a bunch of files there, incl sailwave.exe, blat.exe and lua5.1.exe ? And double clicking the sailwave.exe there also doesn’t work?

Try uninstall and re-install ?

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, the installation is present. I uninstalled/reinstalled, no difference. I found an install.log and there are no errors in it, 639 lines long, 44,544 bytes.

Looks like it's not going to work for me.

Thanks for the help.

What version did you download/install. I had a situation lately where the latest version was not working (asking for some file) and I installed the prior version sw201b8.exe which did work.

Andy,

Never mind - happens to the best of us!

Something else to try if you’re still game (got to get you on board somehow!) - uninstall your current version, then download and install an even earlier version (which I never heard of any installation problems) - v1.57,

from www.sailwave.com/binary/sw157.exe

At least to find something that works on your PC?

You might find both the install executable and the program executable and check the properties on them (by right clicking on them in explorer). Security software that my company installs now means that I have to “UNBLOCK” some files downloaded or installed by me. I don’t know if this situation could apply with you but you might check to see what has changed on your PC from a security perspective since the last time you installed something you downloaded from the internet.

Hi Jamie

I tried downloading another application for the internet, installed it and that works fine, so I don't think it's a security problem.

Thanks for the suggestion
