[sailwave] Event categories?

Well from my non programmers view point... its a matter of creating more class fields on the registration page and then using them if needed when you score out fleets.

PS: enjoying Carl's posts a lot...

I agree enrolling the US sailing community in a change is difficult

Nevertheless He has worn me out!!!
I am so tired of racing in 3 boat fleets and declaring... Yeah... we have one design or we have a formula class. Now 8 boat fleets are declared major events.

Sigh
Thanks
Mark

Hi Colin

Is there any update on the ability to register one sailor/boat into
multiple divisions.

Eg. Portsmouth overall, Plus one design class, plus formula class.
assuming that you have collected time of finish.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Well from my non programmers view point... its a matter of creating more

class fields on the registration page and then using them if needed when you
score out fleets.<

True, but I know I'd be asked to score where 'class=x and fleet=y and
club=not(z)...' But essentially yes, that's all it is. Actually a
'formula' column is a great idea, I'll add one. I'll also add some other
generic columns like 'division' and 'group' so that they can all be used to
score across. Please feel free to mention other useful column names for
that purpose. In fact I've just realised that 'formula' could be
auto-populated from a rating file.

I am so tired of racing in 3 boat fleets and declaring... Yeah... we have

one design or we have a formula class. Now 8 boat fleets are declared major
events.<

Over here (UK) we tend to sail cat events on handicap as the major result -
usually ISAF - and then extract class/formula/club/prize etc results as
necessary.

There is a bit of a hoo-ha in EU at the moment about the ISAF F20 rating.
ISAF SCHRS doesn't consider beam whereas Texel does which means the new
Tornado and F20 have the same value (0.94) under ISAF - and the F20s are
getting trounced... to the point that I know some UK F20 sailors that have
ditched them and gone to F18...

Off to the pub now to talk cat sailing...

Regards,
Colin
