[sailwave] Finsih Time Importing

Mike;
One of our club members, Jim Karnes, has a side business timing ski, foot &
bike races. He uses Alge Timing equipment for most of his work. The device
that I referred to in my post is the Timy. You can see it at
http://www.alge-timing.com/

I asked Jim to give you some info on it. I sent the message to his work
e-mail address, so you may not hear back from him until next week.

I have never heard of such a timer.

Do you have any more information such as cost, and where you may get one?

Subject: [sailwave] Finsih Time Importing

We have access to an Alge timing finish time data logger. The timer
stores the time of day each time that a button is pushed. It creates a
list of finish times that can be printed directly by the device. The list

of

times can also be uploaded to a PC. It would be wonderful if that
string of times could be imported into the sail number wizard routine.

Currently, we use the timer to provide back up to hand written times.
The finish button is pushed each time a boat finishes. Twice if two
finish at the same time, etc. The idea is to have a time stamp for each
finishing boat. Times are hand written as much as possible & we
attempt to write down all sail numbers. Invariably, mistakes are made
and the Alge Timer gives a means to get them straight.

If the string of finishing times could be imported, it would eliminate
another source of error, fat finger data input a.k.a. typo's. Ideally,

sail

number wizard would offer up the next time in the list as each sail
number is entered. You could accept that time or use the back button
and type a different sail number as a place holder if you did not know
who that time belonged to or type in a sail number that matches the
time. You would also need to be able to overwrite the time because
the Alge Timer button may not get pushed for each finisher.

I know that that is asking alot. Another way to use the finish time

string

would be by inporting the string into Excel, matching sail numbers to
the time string and then importing the sail number / finish time string.

Is either of these approaches feasible?
