In the Edit Scoring Code window under the `Properties’ tab, the text refers to A6b, the rule was renumber in RRS 2005-2008 to A6.2.

I have not followed completely.
Am I in the clear - or is there a bug as well…?

In the Edit Scoring Code window that opens, select the `Properties’ tab.
Here, you will see the `Rule A6b’ option - as Huw said, if you clear that, then the scoring is done correctly.

I’m still trying all ideas on my copy of the file. I can’t find the properties of the FIP scoring code or the tick mark. When I edit the competitors race results I select Recorded Result / Code / then select FIP from the drop down menu of choices and 5 from the drop down menu of Points choices. When I rescore after doing this, no one ranks 1st in the race.
Final Series Races will be held tomorrow and results and awards will be determined and presented tomorrow evening. Will continue to use DNF and use rescore to calculate 6th in lieu of the FIP-5 if I don’t find another way to fix it.
I’m more interested in resolving this problem for future use than this current series use.
Thanks,
Bobt— In sailwave@yahoogroups.com, Huw Pearce <huw.pearce@…> wrote:
Hi all,
I have just had a look at this problem and used Malcolm’s message as a
starting point. I looked at the properties of the scoring code FIP and
noticed that it had a tick beside ‘This is a code where rule A6b
applies…’, taking the check mark away, clicking OK and then re-scoring
gives the highest rank in Races 2 & 3 as being 1stThis what I hope Bob you are wanting.
Kind regards,

I tried changing the FIP score to a corrected time greater than 4th

This confirms that its the assigned place that is causing the problem
- but I’m not sure what is causing it or what the best solution is.

The sailwave file is attached. If you can figure out how to fix
this, I’d
love
to know so I can try the same in the future if the need arises. Also, I seem to still be on a probationary list for posting
messages to the
group, where my messages have to be screened before posting. Is
there
somethingI need to do to evolve to direct posting? I’ve been a member of
several
other
yahoo groups for years and not had to deal with this. Just
wishing for
quicker
posting and replies.I have the sailwave software installed on my desktop and my
laptop and I’ve
been exploring the use of USPN2008 ratings and scoring system. I
created a
excel csv file from US Sailings Portsmouth Yardstick ratings for
all classes
of
boats, which I tested months ago, but I haven’t had time to
explore much. Ialso found a similar file in the sailwave / attachments section this
morning.
I’m trying to copy files back and forth between the two
computers. The
laptop
is necessary to be able to score races at the lake. The desktop
at home is
muchquicker and easier to use. I’ve been emailing with attachments
to transfer
files between the computers and keep them sync’d to some degree. Thanks,
BobRe: [sailwave] help scoring doesn’t rank anyone 1st
bob, attach your sailwave file (.blw) file to a message to the
group - e.g.
a
reply to this. the group accepts attachments and it’s always a
good idea toattach the file in question…

I’m using sailwave 2.02 build 4. I’ve entered racin info and
results for 9
races. Races 1 & 4 thru 9 have 1st places but races 2 & 3 have
2nd place as
the
highest rank after scoring. I’ve tried deleting the finish times
for all
entrants then reentering them and rescoring, but there’s no
difference in
the
results. Does anyone have any idea of how to resolve this
problem? I’ve
tried
searching the messages, but haven’t thought of a good search to
find any
information on this phenomenon. I can download or email someone
a copy of
the
file if it will help. Our last race in the series will be
Saturday, Oct
16th.
I’d like to resolve this problem before then so I may print out
the results
and
not have to explain the discrepancy to all the racers. Thanks, bob
