[sailwave] Import Competitors

Hi, Everyone!

These last days, it has been discussed the boring thing about "typing competitors data".

I mentioned that it was better to import from a .CSV file, and somone said that the race setup was then lost.

I've just tested, and if you uncheck the "Delete competitors befor importing" option, SW setup (races and everything) will remain!
With the new delete-function, it is no problem to delete alot of competitors.... Try it!

Anyway, I suppose that Colin will fix this bug in a new release....

It's ambigious that SW setup dissappears when importing data, even tough you delete existing competitors...

Regards
Martin

Thanks Martin - it was me!

When I was using the flights system, I was trialling how it would work & so did a number of
re-imports using the same competitors list.
The "Delete Competitors before importing" option was a great way of getting rid of any incorrect
data which I may have created during my testing.

I would still like to use the above situation of importing a previous listing, in case there has
been an update to the spreadsheet, prepared either by our club or a Class Association. This update
would be even more likely if there were changes to the allocation of boats to flights when more
competitors were added to the list.
An obvious solution to this issue would be to record the changes made but then this would defeat the
object of saving time :frowning:

As you have already done some testing on this subject, how would the listings for deletion appear?
What I am worried about is, would there be duplicates of a competitor in the listing & how would I
know which one to delete?

Regards
Ralph

Hi, again!

Did this "delete" today, and the new way Colin has made for us was great! You have to look at it, but in one situation I just marked those I wanted to delete as
"Excluded" and could then select " Delete all excluded competitors" !! There ar more to it too!
I just loved this way of doing things!

Thanks Martin

See what you mean.
However, double clicking on each competitor is a bit of a pain (with 150+) but will patient until
Colin deals with the 'bug'
Also like the idea of double clicking this way
