Subject: Re: [sailwave] Linking to a race timer
Hi Ron,
You have a few options here - If you are on a suitable committee boat you can run Sailwave on a Laptop or Tablet on the committee boat
if you click the Real-time finish times on the first window of the Sail-No Wizard then the time is entered for the time you enter the result
This is about as simple as you can get it - you can of course manually edit the results afterward for those if you can’t enter them fast enough.
This will work well if you don’t have lots of boats finishing close to each other, and you have a suitable committee boat or are scoring from sightings on land.
Sailwave can also import results from a csv file and some users have created timers that create these files or Android applications that will time and store the results and import into Sailwave.
see http://www.rbsc.org.uk/2019/01/race-control-software-demo/ - the second video here shows this being imported into Sailwave. The latest version of Sailwave allows multiple races to be imported at the same time together with the automatic creation of new races within Sailwave

Is it possible to link Sailwave to a race timing device? Our wish is to input the race start time and then as the yacht crosses the finish line that their elapsed time is automatically input, corrected time calculated and race results produced.
