[sailwave] Merging

Hi Colin,

Merging now upgraded with both behaviours:-

1. Append competitors but merge races/results.
2. Merge competitors but append races/results.

1. is useful if you have separately scored fleets in >separate files and want
to import them into one file; this is the existing >behaviour. 2. is useful
to combine N series into one longer one.

I think:
2. should merge if the same competitor is found and append if competitor not exist. In case of no result, because the competitor doesn't salils in one file/race it should be an DNC.
Now the tricky part starts... To follow ISAF rules A9.. A DNS, DSQ, DNF should give, number of competitors that regatta plus one, and a DNC, numbers of competitors in the hole serie.

I understand if you have to change a lot to implement this last thing.
What do you think ?

One more thing:
I think you look at the sail number when you merge ? Isn't it better to look at name and club instead? It 's happen that the competitors changing sail numbers during a serie spanning a year.

Best regards
Bjrn Preutz

Hi Bjorn,

I think:

2. should merge if the same competitor is found and append if competitor not
exist. In case of no result, because the competitor doesn't salils in one
file/race it should be an DNC.<

That's exactly how it works. Competitors that are not in the file are
appended.

Now the tricky part starts... To follow ISAF rules A9.. A DNS, DSQ, DNF

should give, number of competitors that regatta plus one, and a DNC, numbers
of competitors in the hole serie.<

Just rescore the new series and it'll all sort itself out depending on the
rules you've chosen for your codes, i.e. DNF etc based on #competitors in
series or #competitors that came to the starting area.

Regards,
Colin
