Comma Separated Values (.CSV)

Basically, you enter the values for the various columns in SailWave on a single line in a text file, separated by commas. If you like, you can put the column names on the first line, also separated by commas. That way you can be sure SailWave puts the values in the right columns when it imports the .CSV.

For example:

PHRF, Boat Name, Crew, Sail No, Club, Nat,
2.45,Cathexis,Antonio Vivaldi,68092,BYC,USA
2.00,Bees Knees,Mickey Mouse,39275,BYC,USA

Have a fiddle and post specific queries to the group.Series with the same series can be created using File+SaveAs. You can import from CSV files to get the initial competitor list.Regards,Colin-----Original Message-----From: Geoff Town [mailto:geoff@town1934.freeserve.co.uk]Sent: 23 October 2001 09:34To: sailwave@yahoogroups.comSubject: [sailwave] New userI have downloaded sailwave OK. Is there a procedure(user manual) in the best/correct way of setting up and using Sailwave please?I had been using Sail100 but have found it very difficult and tedious to use.We would like to use Sailwave at the Club in the timekeepers box which is quite bright, what notebook should we buy display-wise?Cheers,Geoff TownBroxbourne SChttp://groups.yahoo.com/group/sailwavehttp://www.sailwave.com/To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to:sailwave-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.comYour use of Yahoo! Is there a list of what the column names should be ?

Think it might be time to write a bit of code to extract the info from our
website boat database into csv so that I can pull it straight into sailwave
?

Thanks

Hi Steve,

The (default) expected column names are:-

Tally,Fleet,Boat Name,Class,Sail No,Crew,Club,Nat,Rating,Wind Rats,Notes

Note you can't import race results yet (coming soon), just the competitor
details.

Regards,
Colin

The importation function works very well, with Excel publishing to a
.CSV file, one thing we noted was that if you title the Excel .CSV file
columns they must be consistent with the Original (Verse any renaming)
column headings in Sailwave.

Warmest regards,

-Doug
