Annapolis Yacht club has a web based regatta management program that does
what you are doing. The fellow that wrote it has set up a program similar
to what you are describing for other clubs. The most important feature to
me running a regatta is the credit card payment option for preregistration.
(once people have paid... they will show up). When you register and put
your card info in... your club bank account is credited and he takes a small
transaction fee for the service. You might want to partner with him. I can
find the info and forward if you would like

Do you know what sort of fee we talking about. I can do it for about 10% of
each credit card transaction, the net $ appearing in the club's account a
few days after the event.
Does anybody have an opinion on that - does it sound expensive or
worthwhile - ~4% of that is for real-time credit card checking
(credit/stolen etc) and goes to the on-line bank.
