I'm happy to report that Sailwave (2.02b6) seems to work perfectly with the latest development version of WINE (1.3.35), which was just released yesterday.
I'm not quite sure why, but I don't think the old font problem is there either - I certainly haven't done any fixes, but the menu and text box display is perfect as well.
This is Linux Mint 12, which is pretty much equivalent to Ubuntu 11.10.
Oh, and just tested 2.4.1. Working great - no font problems either.
