Sailwave Problem with ISAF Functionality on Linux under WINE

Hi SUG Users,

This is to let those who use Sailwave under WINE on Linux and/or Mac

systems of a problem.

The environment I have found the problem is:
  • Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" with all official updates and no

    unofficial ones

  • WINE v1.6.2

  • Sailwave v2-19-0
When I get home I will test using my openSUSE 13.2 “Tumbleweed”
    64-bit with WINE 1.7.x.

In the above Sailwave version Jon has integrated functionality, that
used to be available in a separate utility.

Is there anyone on the SUG, or knows of someone, with much more
knowledge of WINE than Jon or I who is willing to help debug the
    problem, please?

I have managed to save error file that was generated, if that would
be helpful. The problem seems to be with WININET.DLL.

Look forward to any offers of help.

    Kind regards,

    Huw

Try running “winetricks wininet” from your command line. This will download the WININET.DLL and a few other things from Microsoft, replacing the WINE dll implementation.

Since I don’t use the ISAF feature in Sailwave, it’s difficult for me to test, but from an initial search it sounds like a few years ago there were some problems with the WININET implementation and HTTPS.

I’m not sure this would be a final fix, but it should help localize the problem. If it does turn out to be an issue with WININET, we can issue a bug fix request to WINEHQ.

Andy

Thanks for suggestion. I will try it out when I have sorted

myself out after getting back last night from the ISAF World Cup
event at Weymouth here in the UK.

Kind regards

Huw
