[sailwave] Re: Discard Profile Qualification & Finals

I have tried Huw’s idea of Qualification & Finals but it does not work.

I seem to remember that Appendix LE in Sailwave is based upon a whole regatta discard profile with an option of identifying how many of the discards can be taken in the Finals

In my application, I have different discard profiles for Q & F

The Q profile is 0,0,1 and no discards for the final

If there are only 2 races completed in the Q, there should be no discards, even when the F race is completed

Am I missing something in SW?

Regards

Ralph

Ralph,

Making this suggestion very much of the top of my head without investigating.

Consider making the 3GH races a Q-Series and the Pursuit Race an F-Series.

Set the overall discard profile as 0,0,1 and the F-series discard profile as 0.

Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks for all your suggestions but this does not deal with the scenario of completing 3 GH races on Saturday but no racing on Sunday.

In this instance, we want to allow 1 discard because 3 GH races have been completed

These are the various permutations & the discard profile for each (setting race 4 as non-discardable)

3 GH + Pursuit = 0,0,1

3 GH only = 0,0,1

2GH + Pursuit = 0< /p>

1 GH + Pursuit = 0

What I want to do is to avoid changing the profile

Yes Jonathan, it’s the Tiger so you can appreciate the need to get everything right first time!

Hi Ralph,

Set your discard profile to 0,0,0,1 as this will only allow 1 race to be discarded if all 4 races are run. To ensure that the pursuit race is not discarded, right click on the column header for the pursuit rac e and click edit race. Then in the new window select start 1 in the start tab and click edit. You’ll see the option to make the race none discardable towards near the bottom of the new window.

If you are not to use the alias as I suggest.

Have two files, on for the first three races, one for the full series.

Just export the results to the second file if you have the extra result.

Could you give me a quick lesson on how they could solve the problem please
