I just tried it (admitedly with an old sailwave but i'm not sure that you have changed this).
typing in japanese symbols they display as japanese whilst in the multi language input mode but once sailwave gets it
they turn into ?.
Saving the file sailwave has stored ? in the file as well so it is more than just a display issue.
typing the same symbols into the save as dialogue for the filename works ok.
If you want any help in any way let me know.
John

Hi John,
That would be great, thanks. I must admit to being pretty ignorant in this
area. I'll have a fiddle myself too...
Currently I don't store unicode.

Subject: RE: [sailwave] Re: multilingual supportIt should work (we cope with Japanese etc.). As long as you can
type in the greek symbols in some way then
the issues become more of internal storage and file i/o. Then the
issue comes down to choosing between
MBCS & UNICODE internally. What that really affects is whether
you would ever perceive needing to store
a japanese competitors name in the same file as a chinese or greek.
If this is the case (and it would seem possible/likely at World
championship level) then you will need to use
unicode/utf-8 etc. internally and in the file.I have a copy of sailwave on my laptop that i use for testing
japanese support of our product. I'll give it a try
at some point over the next few days.John

Subject: RE: [sailwave] Re: multilingual supportHi John,
OK I see. I've always assumed (incorrectly by the looks of it)
that Windows
handles that; i.e. you install the necessary font variations on your
computers to allow you to write in Greek. Can you write in Greek in
applications like Word and Notepad etc on the same computer? Are
there some
fonts that work and some that don't...? Is anybody out there
knowledgeable
about this sort of thing. I chose Tahoma as the UI font because
from what I
could gather, there were more regional variations for Tahoma than anything
else...Regards,
Colin
