ActiveX security settings are in Internet Explorer, changing them might help. As the about screen still says version 38 after installing 39b2 it might be worth uninstalling and redownloading sailwave, then installing it again.
Colin, Thank for your comments but I'm afraid that I am no closer to solving the problem. Your comment about security systems might help, though. When I paste a section of a Word document to a Email Message (such as this) I get the following error message "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly" Search as I may, I cannot find any way of turning on and off security controls. Yours Richard

Are you logging into XP or are you using it in single user mode? If the former, are you logging in as administrator to install Sailwave - it sounds like the install is not storing any files.
Try creating a folder by hand in c:\program files - does it let you?

If it does let you try adding some files to these folders you just created - does it let you? i.e. can you open the files after adding them to the folders.

I do not run XP but Windows 2000 Professional and I have found that under Windows 2000 Professional that the use trying to use SailWave has to be either Administrator or a member of the Power Users security group to avoid a serious of ‘little’ problems with saving files & opening files.
