Jon,
I too am struggling to submit results to RyA for Royal Tay Yacht Club. Here is error message, data entry and SW file
Not an answer to your problem, but I notice that your races are set
(as default) to score by place, but you are entering elapsed times.
This means that for each boat, you have to select Elapsed Time to
enter into the elapsed time box.
If you Edit Race to score as Elapsed Time, the programme will ask
directly for a time - it will save you some clicks and time.

So tried again

files (I think they’re amended as suggested) - can you
see what I’m doing different?
Have to admit I'm not sure I understand what you meant by
‘where dd is the day in your file’ - I thought it must
mean the day in the date in sailwave that the race was
run? So a race run on 22nd March 2018 that was originally
in sailwave as 22.03.2018 is amended to 2018-03-22 for
upload to the RYA. Is that not correct?

Hi James,
I think you will find that it is your Club ID that is wrong - I tried uploading it with a test ID and it works fine.
Jon
James,
First thing with your file is the date format is incorrect. Needs to be yyyy-mm-dd. I think other formats can work but always safest just to use this format from the start if possible.
The main issue though is going to be slightly more time consuming to resolve. The file needs a bit of tidying up before it will upload. You’re effectively scoring two fleets in one sailwave file from what i can work out. One fleet seems to be a class racing fleet, the other a handicap race. You’ve scored the class race with positions, and the handicap fleet based on timings. You’ll need to remove the class racing results/boats then rescore. This may solve the problem, but sometimes there can also be an issue if you have different start times and rely on sailwave to work out the elapsed times, though as all your handicap racers start off start 3 from what i can see you should be ok.
Let me know if it still doesn’t work.
Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris/James,
There should be no problem in using the date format that he is using, Sailwave will do the format conversion for him in the newer versions.
It does upload OK as it is but I’ve not logged in to see what the data looks like.

Hi
I’ve just checked with RYA and the club affiliated ID for Royal Tay Yacht Club 008101884 is correct. I’ll try running a file with just the handicap class and the recommended date format.
Thanks

Thanks for all the help.
Things I’ve found.
- As Chris suggests, inputting in the format YYYY-MM-DD is reliable. Other formats are not
(Jon - Error message when tried other formats was ’ bad year for Race X’ - where Race X was always the last race in the series).
-
Any unsailed races should be deleted ( error message ‘400’).
-
Avoid use of symbols
-
Pulling hair out doesn’t help - asking experts does.

JAMES - That club number has 2 more numbers than ours. Ours starts 811----, so maybe try it again but without the 00 at the start?
Tried that Jon but to no effect.
I went back to RYA and they have advised I need to register with PYonline first. I will try that today.

Just for anyone reading later
- Other date formats that are described as supported should be fine - please send me an example if they are not so I can investigate.
Note this only applies to recent versions of Sailwave
- It is not a good idea to send empty races but you don’t have to delete them you can just specify on the first window which ones to send
- Symbols should be OK in the recent versions of Sailwave If you are using an older version avoid them especially the & symbol
- Always willing to help if I can if you get stuck
