[sailwave] Rinderle B High Point Scoring

Sorry about the formatting, let me try that again:

To compare the two quickly, just note the difference when there are 8 boats
in a race.

Rinderle B Cox\-Sprague

1st 92.6 72
2nd 78.4 66
3rd 67.1 62
4th 55.8 58
5th 44.5 55
6th 33.1 52
7th 21.8 50
8th 10.5 48
DNF 5.0 46
DSQ 0.0 46

Rinderle B consisting awards 10.5 points for last place. I do not understand
the logic of Cox-Sprague that awards more points to a DSQ in a 19 boat race
than it does to the winner of a 5 boat race. The point is to award you for
beating other boats, not to award you for participating in a race with lots
of other boats.

Hello Bill

How does the rinderle B High point system differ from the Cox Sprague
system? I noticed that you can score over 100 percent by winning a race
with 21 or more boats.

I have not seen a comparision of these two high point systems.

Thanks
Mark

Bill,

re: Rinderle B High Point

Do you know the equations used to derive the Rinderle B lookup tables?

Does anybody know where there is an on-line reference to example Cox-Sprague
equations.

(Mark, could not find your link on US Sailing).

Regards,
Colin
