[sailwave] Rotational Sail Numbers?

Best of luck Ed
You can always do the find & replace manually, it will just take a bit longer.

FAQs on the web site have a section on how to import from a csv. spreadsheet

Thanks, Ralph. I'll look into it, although macro programming isn't in my
life plan right now ;>) You are right that whatever system is used, it
would have to be automatic and quick because we like to post race results on
the Internet real-time as the event progresses. Great idea.

Ed

Hi Ed
Have you considered the import/export features between SW & Excel?

It's a relatively straightforward process (if someone has the VBA
skills) to:
- set up a spreadsheet with competitor name & 'race' sail number
- enter finishing positions into the spreadsheet against 'race'
sail numbers
- with a small macro, find & replace 'race' sail numbers with
'championship' sail numbers
- export back into Sailwave

If you can get a laptop on the finish boat, the overall process
may even be quicker than manual
input into SW

Even if it is a tad longer, you still get all the benefits of SW

Regards
Ralph

Thanks for the explanation. I certainly couldn't figure out how
to do this,
but wanted to be sure I wasn't overlooking a technique ... or ignorant of
some feature(s). The next time I will need to score such an
event format is
late July. If I were to use new software though, I would want to have it
operational long before then to be able to test it thoroughly. This seems
like a big enough change that wouldn't fit that timeframe, but I anxiously
await the possibility if and when you find a way to incorporate it.

Best,
Ed
