[sailwave] Sailwave 3.0

Will give it a go this weekend.

Speed of entry has some times been trying - but i’ve found your system with
elapsed times ok. Using the tab key quickly moves you through data entry. I
would love to be able to set the default to be ‘position’ entry rather than
have to recheck the position box every time I enter another competitor’s
position.

(minor gripe, the software overall saves loads of time compared to my old
basic excel file)

Yes - publishing a ‘to do list’ would be a good idea.

Please (please!) can we have ‘import competitor details’ from an external
excel/access db.

Your efforts are much appreciated by all long suffering race organisers,-
will feedback any comments on the new version.

Regards,

Andy Airnes B&FYC

Hi Andy,

I would love to be able to set the default to be ‘position’ entry rather than
have to recheck the position box every time I enter another competitor’s
position. <

If Sailwave is working as intended it should figure out you’ve been using positions and default to Position for each succeeding entry… see if 3.0 is any better; the code in this area has been reorganised a bit. Actually, the quickest way to set a position is to use the mouse and right-click on a cell and then select the desired position via the Set Position sub menu that pops up; you don’t need to go into the result form at all doing it that way…

I’ve promised CSV import to somebody by the weekend of the 7th/8th July, so you will inherit that. Like all Sailwave functionality it may be a bit primitive at first and evolved later with feedback from users…

Regards,

Colin

I keep trying to select a cell and type the finish position. If it could support that it would

be quicker than selecting the right mouse button and finding the correct number in what can become a fairly large

submenu.

I agree; edit-in-place would be nice; I’ve not done it to date for a number of reasons: time, ambiguity and safety, but, like everything else, it is on the infamous todo list…
