I have used RDGa, which includes DNC, how does sailwave calculate average of
races sailed?
(your approach, giving 1.5 points would cause some controversy, I'm going to
propose it at our next Dinghy committee meeting)!

1.5 points has advantages; it means you get a good score for missing the
race and also it doesn't mess up the total points as somebody else pointed
out - i.e. you don't know your final score until the end of the series if
you use averages unless you use the method that is average races before your
OOD duty; which if at the start of the series and you started badly is not
that fair either perhaps. NB: Do you mean *exclude* DNC as I think all
responses indicated?
