Sailwave - Scoring Profiles

Colin and fellow Sailwave users,

I am doing some work at present investigating what happens when different
scoring 'profiles' are used, for example what differences appear when one
uses the standard RYA Appendix A and a custom high scoring such as

  Points scored = (F - P) + 6 [where F = Number of finishers & P =
Position in race, i.e. last boat to finish scores 6 points]
DNF, OCS, BFD score 5 points
           RAF scores 4 points
           DSQ, DNE score 2 points
           DNC scores 0(zero) points

At present I do not see anyway to do this apart from
  a) keep separate series
  b) keep changing the scoring rules with its associated risk of not making
the changes correctly.
So I have been wondering if you would consider adding to the development
plan a mechanism for keeping scoring profiles in a separate area and files
files, much as you already have implemented for templates, styles & ratings.
The advantage is that one would be able to define the scoring profiles and
select which one wanted to use for a particular series or as I am doing
seeing what differences different scoring profiles have on the overall
results of a series.

I look forward to hearing what you, Colin, and other Sailwave users think.

Kind regards,

Hi Huw,

As it happens, :-), I am gradually moving the infrastructure to cope with
this - it is especially useful when evaluating different rating systems.
But each series will always contain at least one copy of a scoring profile
(I use that term internally as well!) so it's transportable... Ditto the
publishing options etc etc. Thanks for the feedback...

Regards,
Colin
