[sailwave] Size Limits

Indeed the suggestion of making one file for each class is loads of
extra. All 350 boats does have different courses? One file per finishing
line? Then merge it day by day... Exclude "one day only" entries in the
merged file, and voila - you might get helped, scoring each class for
the whole series. One day only entries will be published by the "dayly
results"

Hi Malcolm,

Yes, that would make sense.

I agree with John and Richard that you can't really make allowances, and
ideally we would not have single day entries. Equally it's no different
to having two classes that cross or are racing the same course.

We were considering running a separate file for each of the 26 classes,
that would make this a fairly easy job by just setting up a duplicate
file for the class if there was a single day entry for that class, but
again, that's a lot of extra work...

Cheers

Keith,
There are a couple of things you could do:
1. Identify them as a separate division
2. Publish one set of results with them included in the regular
division,
then change the division to a special one and republish - a lot of
trouble, but a way to show them both ways. Our club's weekly races are
scored as Division results and as Overall results, which is dead easy.

Ah, Aparently I underestimated the number of entries somewhat...

It would actually be arounf 350 boats...

HI Folks,

I'm very new to using sailwave and have just been asked to look into the
best option for our town regatta. I have one main question.... Id there
any practical size limit for sailwave? Our regatta will have IRO 180
boats in 26 classes racing twice a day for 5 days.

I have found nothing in my 'playing' with the program to indicate that
this would be a problem but would like to check.... ;o)

We will be running 3 committee boats and was planning to have 1 person
ashore working with each one, would they all be able to edit a single
sailwave file at the same time (I doubt that very much) or would we be
better using aseperate file for each committee boat and publishing from
there (or merging files for publication, maybe)?

Thanks in advance.

Keith
