Mark

I’ve started working through the sailwave manual you kindly sent.

Do you know someone in the Reigate (Surrey) area who would be willing to help me get over the learning hurdle?

Thanks

Graham Field

Hi
I’m looking at introducing new race management software at Chipstead
sailing club and Sailwave appears to be the most popular.
I’ve downloaded the software and had a look at the help.

Does any one have a beginners guide or OODs help document. I’m hoping
not to spend too many late nights trialing the software.

We run various fleet and handicap series through out the year and we’re
planning on starting properly from April 2009, but I want to practice
with this years results. Some fleets use high point others low point
scoring, we also run pursuit races.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Graham Field

Colin - We are using Sailwave to score Alamitos Bay YC’s annual Turkey Day regatta, 319 entries with very few problems, except the fog and lack of wind. Results were posted to the web after scoring was having dinner the first day of racing before 7PM. Found a few bugs while scoring the regatta, ssome annoying, but nothing we couldn’t get around. Generally the new version is pretty stable.

Corrupts Deadheats: With 319 entries we have had several deadheat finishes at our annual ABYC Turkey Day regatta. http://www.abyc.org/upload/2008_Turkey_Day_Regatta.html This has presented us with several problems.

  1. The sailnumber wizard does not accomodate dead heats. When you enter the second boat in the deadheat you have to change the finish position so it is the same as the prior boat. When you enter the next finisher you have to remember to increase the finish position by one so you have two 9th’s no 10th and then an 11th.
  2. The rearrange recorded places tool does not allow you to enter a tie.
  3. If you use the rearrange recorded places tool to adjust a score, the tool will without warning change one of the 9th places to a 10th place. so that there are 9th, 10th and 11th place finishes.

You can get around the problem by keeping a note of the deadheats and resetting them everytime before scoring or rescoing the regatta.
Unable to change date format: I am not able to locate a place where I can change the date format from dd/mm/yy to mm/dd/yy. The tab I was expecting to find it on has ISAF Sailor information. Am I missing it or did it get dropped.

Cannot find field Helm Error Message Loop: When trying to print a competitor list for a regatta. We go to the publish menu and select “Competitor List”. We then hit select competitors and we get a message “Can not find Helm”. We then unable to get out of the error message loop, we click continue and the message is redisplayed. We eventual have to terminate the task.

Version: 2.00 build 1
Installed: Unknown
Time: 8:25:02 PM
Cannot find field Helm

Helm - replace with HelmName if it looke dlike its a field spec… I
thought I caught them all in the upgrade logic. Yes, example would be
