Sailwave support

At our club we have been happily using Sailwave for our race results for some time. It has been rumoured that support for Sailwave is going to be no longer available. Is this true? The powers that be are now using another system which is proving extremely problematic and insist that going back to Sailwave is not an option.

I would be obliged if this could be clarified.

Thanks,

Roger

Hi Roger. There is no need to worry that is completely false information. Do you know where that information came from?.
Sailwave support and development is fully available. There was even a new release only last week. And new things are in development.

I look forward to hearing from you. What system are they using now?

Hi Roger,

I’m not speaking for the developers, but this is the first time that I’ve heard this and I doubt that there is any truth to it. The active software development, bug fixing and forum discussions is a good indication to me that Sailwave is not going away soon. https://www.sailwave.com/category/sailwave

Over the last week I receive 62 Sailwave emails covering 14 topics, which shows good activity by the users.

Cheers,

Peter

Hi Roger,

Short answer - no truth in the allegations being made by others

in your club.

I am very concerned to hear that others at your club are making

such a statement. I would like to know why these people are making
such allegations without first contacting Sailwave. I would also
like to know which club and also what other system is being now
used, so I can engage with them to allay there allegations.

I am not the developer but have been using Sailwave almost since

it was released back in 2001. I have had a very good and close
working relationship with the developers since then. There is no
truth in the allegation being made by others in your club.

Having tried many different scoring programs over the years to

compare and contrast with Sailwave [but have continued to use
Sailwave]. I have always found the Sailwave User Group a very
helpful community in providing advice & guidance to other users,
including the developers being very active. The developers have
always considered user requests and regularly update the software to
take account of World Sailing changes affecting scoring, together
with other developments in scoring from other sources.
I look forward to hearing from you and your club.

PS - Thank you Peter van Muyden for your supportive response

Kind regards,

Huw

Jon, thank you for your reply that is most reassuring. I will attempt to discover where the false information came from and if have any luck I’ll advise you. I will now attempt to convince our sailing committee to revert to your software, I’m afraid I don’t know what system they are using currently.

Thanks again, Roger
