I thought this was worth a post here. Sailwave was used to score the Eric Twiname Championships at Rutland Sailing club this weekend. Previous years it has been scored using Sail100. This year I wrote a custom program to do the team scoring for the event so that the team scores could be published live after each set of results came in.
With 230+ competitors competing across 9 classes. Results were scored by class and also with 9 teams/zones competing for team prizes within each class as well as an overall dinghy prize, overall windsurfing prize and overall Team prizes.
7 separate sailwave files were used and my program read these files, calculated and published the team results at the click of a single button and a web page is produced showing the team results. Total time about 2 seconds!
I’ve tried to make the program fairly generic so it should be easy to modify for future team events
For anyone interested the output of the program the results can be seen at
www.sailingresults.co.uk

On my wish list for Sailwave, probably never to be granted.
A team racing results function including Swiss League calculations..
This is available of Sail 100, which only works on Excel.
Cheapskates like me use OpenOffice!
