Notes:-

� This release simplifies scoring system inheritance in that inheritance has
been removed at the top level and the concept of a default scoring system
has been removed. Interitance only applies to the fleet (etc) specific
overrides now. Also any scoring system can be applied to score everybody as
one group or by any field. This stops having to have loads of scoring
systems and is more understandable coming from 1.57. This means that you
may have badly named scoring systems hanging around now - for example "score
by fleet". Please review the scoring systems in each of your series and
twiddle as necessary.

� You can click again on column titles to reverse the sort order. Ditto for
the second sort order (ctrl+click). Watch column title for visual help.
� Andy your Cogs/PY etc sries seems OK now.

� Mark Schneider - did you see my email with proposed chnages to help
you...?

Hi Andy,

I would like to get to that - it should be fairly straightfoprward but I don’t think I’ll be able to give you an upgrade route - i.e. any prizes defined using the old system wil be lost. Do you think the prize definitiions should be per series or per scoring system. I’d say per series…

Hi Colin.

The sort of rules I’d like to be able to apply are as follows.

Higher Priority:

  1. 1st prize in each race under each fleet (I’m using fleet to identify scoring system)

  2. Overall Series winners per fleet.

  3. 1st 2 handed yacht in each race (This is a bit tricky as the way the series has been set A yacht may declare they have sailed 2 handed for 2 and fully crewed for two races, for example. In my case it would be useful to be able to override an alias result, say 2 handed fleet entry, with a DNC so that they would not be scored for that fleet for races that they sailed with more thans 2 hands - however, this is a different issue).

Lower Priority:

  1. Manual selection of a yacht for a particular trophy i.e. for youngest sailed.

  2. ability to select a group of boats in a fleet by parameters, such as less than 9 meters LOA.

The COGS fleet also has a further award for teams from each club. Each club may have any number of entries for each race. The club nominates 3 yachts as part of their club team. A tally is kept of the total points for each team and a trophy awards to the club with the lowest points at the end of the season. The tricky part is that the teams are nominated 24 hours before each race and they may not be the same yachts for every race. Thought I’d mention this to put it on the radar, but I’d suspect this is a little to specific to us and unlikely of value to the wider community.

explain what the default view is for various situations.
From this, there may be merit in changing some of the default rules if enough of us feel strongly
