Hi everyone especially Simon Smith who I have 'met' elsewhere online
before!
The person who is doing the results at Langstone has said he would
like to use Sailwave rather than Sail100.
If this is successful and proves genuinely easier, the Laser 2000
Class Association might consider using it.
I have asked our results person to send me an example of the HTML
output from Sailwave. For better or worse the Langstone website is
done in FrontPage and I want to be sure I am not going to have to
spend hours editing the HTML to get a straightforward table that FP
can work with - which Sail100 gives me automatically and without any
editing whatever. I already have a 'template' page, including a
background .gif and header graphics which is used as the basis for
creating any new page in the Langstone website, and another for the
Laser 2000 site.
We already have two different boats at Langstone, different classes,
but in the SAME handicap group with the SAME sail number. The same
thing also happened at our regatta last year, plus we have club boats
that can be sailed by different people within the same series. How
does Sailwave handle this.
Sail100 gives us the possibility to re-calculate PN to give personal
handicaps. I can't see this in the spec for Sailwave.
Broadly speaking we have the same boats competing in successive
series through the year. For instance, the competitors in the Harvest
series, fast handicap group will already have competed in the
Saturday series fast handicap group. Likewise, for the Laser 2000's,
the competitors in each event in the travellers series will be about
60% the same throughout the year. Can a group of competitors
be 'imported' from one event to another to save re-typing personal
details?
For the Laser 2000's series overall table, there is the possibility
to create automatic links from each event column in the SERIES result
to the page that details that individual event's race results, which
is a series in its own right. This is achieved by importing the final
position result from each event into the travellers series table as
if it was one race. All the competitors come across with it. Does
Sailwave provide the same functionality?

Sailwave html files import straight into Frontpage, no problem, you can
then edit or not as you wish, have a look at Dinghy results and Thursday
night cruisers at Warsash SC
www.warsashsc.org.uk I import them just as the results scorer sends them to
me.
