Save Refusal

Hi Guys

Can someone help please - when I go to save a result series the program sometimes refuses to save using the save icon with a pop up saying “Access denied when creating”

I have managed to overcome this by saving via the File icon and renaming the file. What am I dig wrong that makes the occur.

Regards

Trevor

Hi Trevor - Where is the file being loaded from (Which drive and directory)? It would appear that you don’t have write access to that location or the file is locked by some other program. That is the most likely possibility although it is possibly caused by you having a very long path for your file. If you let us know the path which this occurs with, hopefully we can help you

Jon

Hi Jon

Very quick response for which I thank you, the file was loaded from my documents library, which I have done many times without trouble as I find it easier to identify the file I want, the listing shown using the Sailwave icon is very small text and multiple listing. I am sorry to say I do not understand what a “long path” is so I cant give any further info.

Regards

Trevor

Hi Trevor - I wouldn’t expect a problem if you storing them directly within your My Documents folder.
By a long path I meant that there was a long path name e.g.

C:\Users\jon.eskdale\Documents\Sailwave files\sailwave\sailwave 2015\Wednesday evenings\Working files\TheFile.blw

You can see the path could get quite long if you have the file in many sub directories. I wouldn’t expect this to be an issue in normal use but when some of the paths are paths to cloud storage areas then they can get quite long.

I think the thing to investigate is the “Sometimes” We need to determine what is different on the occasions when in works and when it doesn’t
