Our club is running an Optimist class regatta whereby children enter
as part of a team from different schools. Each team can consist of a
maximium of 6 sailors. Within that team the race results of only 4
sailors will count towards that school's team result. At registration
for this one day regatta each team must identify which 4 sailors
results will be counted. In other words there will be 2 sailors whose
results will show on the fleet results but not in the team results.
The team with the lowest points wins the school regatta. Does Sailwave
have the capability to do the above. I realise I can enter school name
and then get sailwave to sort by school but can I get the points added
together for 4 "nominated" sailors from each school? look forward to
some answers so as to avoid the calculator from being used! Phil
Hi Phil,
Yes Sailwave can do this. Next you are going to ask how 
Go look under Publish | Team Rankings. However, this will use the top 4 sailors for each school not the those nominated. A work around may be to have to teams per school, i.e. one of the nominated 4 boats and the other of the other two by putting an A & B respectively after the the school name.
NOTE - at present Sailwave is hard coded to use the sum of the Nett Points of each boat in the team to determine the Team score with lowest being deemed the winning team. It does not use, and currently does not have an option to do so, the sum of the series finish position of each boat in the team, so you would need to make sure that this is written into your sailing instructions scoring section. Something along the lines of
- The School Team scores will be the total of the Nett Points, i.e. after allowance of discards, of each nominated boat in each team; the teams will then be ordered in ascending order of totals and the team with the lowest total of points is the winner of the Schools Team Trophy.*
