SCHRS ratings and class selection drop down

Hi,

I have installed SW 2.30.02 on a new laptop for the racebox team.

They report that when creating a competitor and selecting the Class, SHADOW X (for example) is available and puts in the PY rating. We use SCHRS for the catamaran class. “When Fleet = Catamaran Use SCHRS”

For the Class drop down to input the SCHRS rating, they have to scroll down to ^Shadow X^. It looks odd. Is this correct and as design or should their only be one entry for each class in the Class dropdown list?

Hi Robin

All the classes come from the Rating files that are in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\Sailwave\Ratings Directory

So you need to check what files are in this directory

You can see which files it has read and how many from each by looking in the Help-Log book

I would also recommend you install the latest version from 2.33.2 from a link in a recent posting on this forum

Jon

Hi Robin,

I am concerned by the funny characters showing at beginning and end of the class strings in the screen shot you included. Where did you get the set of SCHRS ratings from?

Sailwave when it reads in the CSV rating files for each class there will be only one rating and this is from the last read rating file.

Your post has reminded me that a 2024 version of the SCHRS needs creating.

I look forward to understanding where you have got the SCHRS rating file from.

Kind regards,
Huw

Hello Huw and Jon,
Thank you so much for the prompt replies. I am in the process of finding and updating the latest version.

The SCHRS.csv file was downloaded from SW ratings file down load page. It’s loaded in 3 files.

I will update the version, then install fresh ratings files and see if the issue disappears, and report.

Many thanks

Robin

Hi again,

I’ve install 2.33.02. Cleared out the rating files and downloaded PY, PY Limited data and SCHRS.

I then created a new series. Added a competitor and selected Hurricane 59 SX. Specified a fleet called ‘Catamaran’.
I then go to Scoring System ; Fleets and add When Fleet is Catamaran, Rating is SCHRS (remove the inherit).

When I now create a new competitor, the Class dropdown, only contains the SCHRS entires (all with A^ befoe and after the Class name) and Hurricane 59 SX is at the top of the list. The PY rated classes aren’t in the list anymore.

Hi Robin,

I have a few minutes ago created a new SCHRS rating file
SCHRS-Format-CSV v02.csv (30.1 KB)
Please can you try this one instead of the one you are using.

This is what I get with only the above file in my ratings folder:

In regard to the message “13:27:08 Once message - It can take a few seconds to connect to the Sailwave server; long

I look forward to your feedback.

Thanks Huw,
I’ve copied in the updated schrs file and the Class drop down list only lists the schrs classes but without the A^ befofre and after the class name. Its not showing the PY Classes in the dropdown though.

Hi George,

Good to hear the funny characters before and after the classes name have gone for you from the classes drop down list. One step forward

Can you try something please. Create a new series then create a new competitor, use ‘New’ button toolbar. Now type ‘osprey’ without the quotes into the class box, then click down arrow and you should see ‘OSPREY’ without the quotes highlighted.

If you see the same I think you have the RYA PN numbers loaded.
Sailwave lists the classes in alphabetical order in the drop down list, intermingling RYA PN & SCHRS ratings. In addition once you have selected a class/classes it/they will appear first in the list and although you have typed a new class name it is not jumped to in the list, one has to scroll through to find it.

FYI - if you had not spotted the announcement , Sailwave v2-33-02 is available via link in this thread the last post Irish Sailing plugin in version 2.30 - #2 by Sailwave

I look forward to helping you resolve your issues.
Kind regards,
Huw

Incidentally, iv’ve removed the PYLimited data and SCHRS files from the ratings folder and now Osprey is displayed correctly

And now I’ve added the other two files (the same files, cut and pasted, back into the rating folder and its seems to be working correctly. One amalgamated list, the SCHRS entries are in lower case, which is helpful. When I select Shadow X, it populates the PY rather then SCHRS rating. Is this correct. How does SW know when creating a new competitor what rating to populate if they exist in both the PY and SCHRS rating files?

Hi Robin

It will depend on the Rating system you have selected to score with
It you select PY then only PY ratings are presented
similarly if you select SCHRS only SCHRS ratings are presented
If you don’t select a rating system then you will see all of them

Jon

Hi Jon,
I just learnt something new

What happens if you have two fleets, one PY & one SCHRS?

Kind regards,
Huw

Thnaks Jon and Huw. I think that its working now. Not sure why removing, running with just PY, then adding the other rating files back in has made a difference but the display is as expected.

I’ve added back in the If Fleet = Catamaran use SCHRS and for some classes it populates with the SCHRS and strangely for others, Hurricane 5.9 SX, it populates with a PY, but they can check against a printed list on the wall.

Thank you both ever so much for you input and time. All the best
Robin

Hi George,
A quick little edit will have both PY & SCHRS showing in classes drop down list.
Open the SCHRS rating file in a text editor like Notepad NOT WordPad or Microsoft Word.
Search for the text string ‘Hurricane 5.9 SX’ without the quotes and delete the space between the 9 & SX, so the string looks like ‘Hurricane 5.9SX’ without the quotes.
Save the file
Restart Sailwave so it re-reads the rating files

You know see i the drop down list of classes:

2024-03-23_18-25

Where ‘HURRICANE 5.9 SX’ without quotes is the RYA PY version and
‘Hurricane 5.9SX’ without quotes is the SCHRS version.

Kind regards,
Huw

Thanks Huw,
I’ll try that tomorrow (I’m not got the laptop anymore).

Many thanks

Robin
