Hi John,
Possible enhancement for a future version.
We use OOD average points excluding DNC, this works fine but we have a formula to only allow 1 OOD for every 4 races sailed in a series, On a few occasions where a helm has done a large number of OOD’s we need to flag them as DNC so they do not count. It would be nice to show that they were OOD and not DNC so I Created a new code OODX scores like DNC. Sadly this new code gets included in the average score for the OOD. So we are back to changing them to DNC.
I know its only cosmetic but it is always posative to see where members have helped out.
Cheers
Keith
Apologies, for the uninitiated… what is OOD in scoring terms i thought it was Officer Of the Day???

John,
Yes it is. Some clubs award people doing their race officer duty average points and give it a code OOD so people can see what it was for I guess.

Thank You Chris.
Interesting, may be an opportunity for some sailors to share the Race Office duty within our small club.
Thanks Again

Keith,
Now that i am aware of what you are trying to do.
Can you share your formula that limits only 1 race in 4 as OOD please, and where is this inserted? i assume when you set up the OOD code?
thanks
John W
Hi
There is no actual formula entered into sailwave , it’s just a club rule that is manually applied at the end of series if anyone has completed too many OOD’s compared to the numbers of completed races in the series.
At present we amend the code to DNC to achieve the desired result, it would be nice if we could apply another code eg OODX as this will highlight that they were on duty. We are a small club and members will do multiple duties in a season and the issue usually occurs when some one has had to step for an additional duty if the OOD does not turn up.
This would obviously only be relevant to club racing where OOD points are scored.
If not difficult to code just make any new code that “scores like DNC” do that and not be included in the OOD average points calculation.
Hope that make sense
Cheers

Keith,
Ok so now i understand…
Maybe Jon E will offer some possible way forward.?
Thanks

Hi,
Isn’t there a checkbox “this code implies that the boat came to the starting area” or similar?
If that is unchecked for OODX do the scores still get included in the average?

Good Idea, Unchecked box but score is still included in the OOD calculation
