Scoring 2 boats with the same finish

Message
We recently used sailwave to score the Sonar Worlds, see http://www.norotonyc.org/swc/index.php3 for the final results. Generally we were pleased with the program and plan to use it again. We especially like the ability to export results in various text formats because we used that to build a scrolling results banner/marquee, see http://www.norotonyc.org/test/race_display/display_fs.php3 if you have a high speed connection.

We ran into a problem however when we tried to score two boats with the same score. We needed to do this because the international jury awarded redress to a boat, moving it to 19th from OCS in R5. We changed the boat’s score from OCS to RDG and assigned it 19 points, leaving all other finishers as they were. When we rescored, the program reassigned the 20th place boat to 21st, etc. to the end of the fleet, which caused the point totals for all boats below 20th to be incorrect. We could not figure out a way to force the program to leave the 20th place boat with 20 points. In the end, we had to manually edit the html before posting final results.

Is there a way to get around this situation? One member of the international jury claims the same problem was encountered at the Etchells NAs, but they figured out how to solve it. He could not remember how.

Hi Wes,

There used to be a problem with Sailwave moving boats up but it was fixed a while ago. It would be useful if you could download the latest beta version of 37 from the bottom of the web site page and try it with that. Alternatively if you send me the race in question I can have a fiddle. Scoring bugs get top priority so I am keen to either confirm it’s fixed or debug…

Regards,

Colin
