Scoring a traveller series (with an odd scoring system)

I've got an odd problem when trying to score our class traveller series, it is the class's fault not sailwave's but I wondered if anyone could advise me on how to go about it?

A couple of the venues run two opens over a weekend as individual opens (best 2 races each day). For the traveller series only 3 results from any venue can count but people can count the best three positions over both days.

So say someone won all three races on both days, when the six races were entered into sailwave only three of the races would have a 1st place (as only 3 results from the venue can count). The other 3 races would have a best position of 2 and other positions could be missed out as people can only score 3 races max out of the 6 for the traveller series.

How can I get sailwave to calculate series totals on the actual positions entered? At the moment, if 2nd is the best place showing in a race sailwave allocates 1 (or 0.75 in our case) to that 2nd place as the calculated result.

I hope that is clear.

Thanks
Paul

Sorry Paul but I’m totally lost as to your explanation. That said would you not get the correct result by scoring the weekend’s sailing with 3 discards but ignore discards for splitting ties?

Its a number of opens that go to make up a series, a couple of venues hold two opens over a weekend and the series has a rule that only 3 results from any venue (not open) can count.

So for 2 opens (= 6 races) only the 3 best results of those 6 races can count for the travelers series (eg 2 from one day and 3 from the other or maybe 3 from one day). However for each open it is the best 2 from 3 that count. The open meetings and the travelers series are scored differently.

Anyway, I've now created a code that allows me to enter the points manually for these races and sailwave uses the manually entered points when scoring the traveler series.

It makes sense to me

Glad you’ve sorted it though your 2nd explanation did clarify the situation somewhat
