I have been asked what the scoring code OOD is and when it can be used
by several members of my club. My understanding is that it is used so
as not to penalize the boat which is acting as the race officer rather
than sailing for part of a series.
Is this correct? If so is it specified in any of the racing rules or
is it a club specific rule?
Same as RDG, but RDG is given bythe protestcommittee. OOD for "officer on duty" is given by the Race Committee

Also, my impression is that the exact interpretation is up to the club, as
to what the formula for OOD is!

Right.
For local use (club series) only
