Scoring doubles as singles

I have run into a scoring question that I hope someone can help with. For our junior sailors, we run season-long singles fleets. From time to time, however, we have to double up the kids because of stronger winds or having more kids than boats. In those cases we would still like to score each of the sailors as singles rather than as a separate doubles fleet. That means that the two sailors on the first boat would each be scored as first place, the next boat's sailors as second, etc. Any thoughts on how to make this happen in Sailwave? We want to avoid any kind of penalty for the kids sailing as a team, but just treat them as each having sailed the race on their own.

Thanks.

Pearson,

Give each competitor the place they got when sailing as a pair, but to
make sure that they get points for that finish position.

Note that by default Sailwave will give then the average of the points
for the finish postion, i.e. if you have 2 second places recorded they
will get 2.5 points each which could be a good way of showing that on
that day they sailed as a pair However, if you want them both to score points for the
finish position you will need to change the default, i.e. standard RRS
Appendix A scoring.; to do this click User Interface button on Tool Bar
and check the box labelled Non-standard Race Tie Options, then click OK
followed by clicking Series Scoring tool bar button and on the Race
Scoring tab select ‘Shared Points’ option on right hand side.
Kind regards,

We have a series that is specifically designed for youngsters (god I
sound old!) so that they pick for each race how they want to sail -
crewed / SH / change boat etc... I thought we were unique in that we
want to score the same way as you. We are still doing this one in excel
for now... so keen to also find an answer as you case sounds very similar.

Huw - Shared Points isn't (I don't think) what they want either...
Shared points means that for second place the 2 sailors each get 2
points (on a low points series) - but no-one gets 3 points and so the
3rd place boat gets 4 points.... ...I think they want to give the third
place boat 3 points

I can't see any difference in how Shared and None are handled?
