I have a
regatta of 40 boats in one fleet (A) and the following format:
The boats
are allocated in to 4 divisions (red, green, blue and white) and remain in the same division for the whole
regatta, sailing in pairs in 2 starts in each race.
For example:
In the first
race we have start one (red vs green) and start two (blue vs white).
In the second
race we have start one (white vs green) and start two (blue vs red).
After each race
we want to have results by start (eg. Red+green and blue+white) and overall
with all divisions.
For each race,
Ihave setup 2 starts with the following
format:
Start 1: [Division
red and Fleet] or [Division green and Fleet]
Start 2: [Division
blue and Fleet] or [Division white and Fleet]
and I score
by fleet.
My problem
is in publishing. When I try to publish the individual races, I cannot have the
results of each start separate (eg. Red+green and blue+white) but I get the
results of both starts together, which is confusing for the competitors.
Is there
any way to publish the results of each start separate?
When publishing you need to change and option. When the first
publishing window opens click on the Options tab and then on the
bottom of the left hand side click the box beside “Publish starts
in separate columns”.
Kind regards,
Huw

I have done this. Actually my problem isin the individual races publishing. I have all the divisions in one table as you may see in the attached document and not in separate tables .
Do you mean to set one more field eg. start where I will have combined the divisions (Red + White and Green + Blue) to score the individual races and then score the event by the fleet?
I had tried something like that a couple of years ago but it did not work as every time I was trying to change the combined attribute the software delete all the ratings.
I will try to do that again and I will let you know if it works.
We have a
fleet with forty boat in four divisions (red, green, blue and white). The boats
do not change division throughout the regatta.
In every
race, we have two start, in each start 2 of the divisions are sailing against
each other:
Race 1
Start 1 :
red vs green
Start 2 : blue
vs white.
Race 2
Start 1 : blue
vs green
Start 2 : red
vs white.
For each
race we want results for each start (red + green combined and blue + white
combined etc.) and for the overall results we want all divisions to be scored
with all divisions combined.
My problem
is when I score the each race:
If I score
by division, I have results for each division and not for the combined divisions
of each start.
If I score
by fleet, I have results of each start with the divisions combined (which is what I want) but when I
publish it, I have the results of both starts in one table.
My question
is if I may have the results of each start – with the two divisions combined –
in different tables when they are published.
I think I understand what you are wanting to do. I think you need
to think in terms of flights not divisions as the Optimist and
other classes do what you conceptually are doing. If you send me
the file you are using I will take look at it and see if I am
correct in my understanding.
The Flight functionality is used for 'static' flights where boats
do not change flight during a regatta/series or for where
competitors are re-assigned flights after each day of racing.
The flights functionality is hard wired in Sailwave to use the
Flight column and not any other column and flight information is
stored as part of the competitor. By default flight functionality
is not ‘switched on’ in Sailwave, you have to switch it on and
then configure.
A good place to read up on this is the Sailwave User Guide is
fleet with forty boat in four divisions (red, green,
blue and white). The boats
do not change division throughout the regatta.
In every
race, we have two start, in each start 2 of the
divisions are sailing against
each other:
Race 1
Start 1 :
red vs green
Start 2 : blue
vs white.
Race 2
Start 1 : blue
vs green
Start 2 : red
vs white.
For each
race we want results for each start (red + green
combined and blue + white
combined etc.) and for the overall results we want all
divisions to be scored
with all divisions combined.
My problem
is when I score the each race:
If I score
by division, I have results for each division and not
for the combined divisions
of each start.
If I score
by fleet, I have results of each start with the
divisions combined (which is what I want) but when I
publish it, I have the results of both starts in one
table.
My
question
is if I may have the results of each start – with the
two divisions combined –
in different tables when they are published.
I will review your file when I wiil be back home.
Regarding your comments, I will change the start btime as soon as I will have the actual ones. I usually switch all the options in the user setup as I find it most fast and flexible for me.
Thank you for your intention to check for any questions I may have during the regatta.
