Scoring races individually within a regatta

We are running a four-race weekend regatta.
Each race is an individual trophy race with its own handicap and result.
However, the total results from all four races will also be counted towards an overall regatta trophy.
I have given each boat an alias for each fleet/trophy race.
So, race 1 is the Joe Bloggs memorial. I have entered the results for that race and have output.
Now, when I enter the results for race 2, which is the Mary Jane memorial, those boats that have competed in the both the Bloggs and Jane memorial race have a result recorded. Along with their results going into the Overall Trophy fleet.
So now Bloggs has two race results for that Fleet when I only want race 1 recorded in that Fleet.
Can I do something here to stop the above happening ???

Unless I’m misunderstanding you don’t need aliases (pl?) at all. Just enter each boat once.

Now create 4 races.

Enter the results for the Joe Bloggs under Race 1

Enter the results for the Mary Jane under Race 2 etc.

(You can name the races Bloggs, Jane etc rather than numbers)

Scoring will give you the overall result (or overall result to date).

Now publish the result and choose to include individual results tables and that results table is the individual result for that race…

The only thing I didn’t understand was you said each race has its own handicap…? You can set a handicap specifically for a race, but it doesn’t (currently) print on the published results.

Ailiases are best kept for when the smae boat is racing in two races at the same time e.g. is to have a GP-14 Fleet result and a handicap fleet result…

I'm not sure what your issue is (even after searching out and reading
what I think are the NOR and Sailing Instructions for your event at the
Mooloolaba Yacht Club).

You can always do a separate Sailwave file for each race and then score
the series in Excel. You would have to do that if you have different
fleet/class assignments for different races.

I'm not an expert on the use of aliases but I believe they take the
elapsed or finishing time or finishing position from a race and then
rescore the new alias competitors as if the others didn't exist. I
suspect that you might want to take the points or final position of each
competitor and score using those numbers but WITHOUT RESCORING. I don't
believe Sailwave can do that as it always rescores everything. [Because
they are rescored, I believe the competitors for whom you are going to
create aliases must all must have the same types of finishes either
times (combining both finishing and elapsed is OK) or places (really
positions rather than places).

If you have consistent fleet/classes for all 4 races then Sailwave is
able to do what you want. In that case I don't think you'd need aliases.
I believe yahoo@wittongilbert.free-online.co.uk already explained how to
do that.
