We have a series that consists of about 6 race days (one day a month), with up to 3 races each day
One of the boats (our club boat) may have a different helm person (e.g., on day 1 HelmName 'A' raced 2 races, and on day 2 HelmName 'B' raced 3 races)
How can I have the published report (final report that merged both race days) reflect the appropriate helmname? So far, I have resorted to editing the html output to reflect the correct name for each race (and putting 'A' / 'B' for the overall to date)
Thanks,
Michael
Hi Michael,
One solution - May not be the best and someone else might have a better idea.
Create a new competitor and set the Helm name for the new competitor so you now have the same boat in twice with different helms. Score the results against the appropriate helm. You will have to change the scoring system so that DNC / DNF etc is the correct value because it is normally No of competitors + 1 so if there is only 1 boat like this set them to No of competitors + 0
if you have more than 1 extra competitor you will have to set these values manually.

Jon - Thanks for your response. does this mean that the DNC/DNF codes can be changed for an individual competitor? I thought it was global for the series. Or perhaps you are referring to the particular races in which the helm name has changed?

Hi Michael,
My thinking is if you have 1 boat but it is sailed by 2 different helms and you want to score them separately. Then enter them as 2 separate competitors but this will only be 1 boat. Normally Sailwave is set to to score number of competitors + 1 for DNC, DNF etc. so in this case it would be No of competitors + 0. As long as you have the same no of competitors in all Races then the value of DNC will be the same so you could set this Manually. You can change the value of DNC in the scoring system.
I would assume that normally you would have the same value for DNC across the Series.

Is the sail number the prize winner or the helm?

if the sailing instructions and the notice of race are silent, then per rule 90.3(a), the series score should be determined using Appendix A, which indicates that you score the boat not the competitor. Otherwise follow the notice of race and/or the sailing instructions.
