I use Sailwave for all regattas with no problems. I’m trying to use Sailwave for our club series scoring for the whole season. The problem I have is not every skipper sails every time. We do not penalized if a skipper does not sail on that day. We also throw out the lowest score for every 8 races.
How do I setup if a skipper does not sail that day so that it does not count at all, including the throwouts?

One option would be to use a High Point system, such that DNC =
0, DNF, etc gets higher points.

Could you please expand on them - perhaps with a simple example

The club has approximately 15 members. On a given day 8 - 10 members will sail. The next day 8 -10 members will sail but not necessarily the same members. For a season the club may race100 races and not every member sails all 100 races. We throw out one race for five races. If a member does not sail, that day/race should not be included in the throwouts. Below is an example.
Sail # 45 should not have any throwouts, instead of 3.

Hi Dave, - As I said previously it would be good if you could give us a simple example or a list of the rules.
Perhaps if you are using high points you could make the DNC code Non Discardable - Does that do what you want.

Hi Dave - The rules you have are rather unusual - I can’t think of a way that you can do that directly with Sailwave, although you can generate the points the problem is with the discards, because the number of discards you want for a competitor changes based on how many races they have taken part in and also how many races have taken place. So different competitors would get a different number of discards which is not supported.
You will have to export to Excel and do it that way I’m afraid

For some reason, my scoresheet is showing points like 3.5 instead of
3 or 4. I can make them go away by changing the scoring system to
zero decimals, but one is recommended and that’s what I have always
used.

Well, that was interesting. Turns out I had manually entered a boat
with the same finishing place as another, and then scored the race.
It didn’t split the two places, and I didn’t run the Rearrange
tool. Thought just rescoring would do the trick. Apparently not.
Anyway, now home, away from the hurly burly of the regatta. Did a
Rearrange, and all is well.
