Hi everybody, two questions:

  1. is there in Sailwave a quick way to find a competitor by name or sailnum?
  2. I want to define a prize for class, sex and nationality. How can I do it if i have only two “and” in the formulas?
    Thank you
    antonio

Hi Antonio,

Currently the short answer is no, but such functionality is being

considered.

Have you looked at the SWPrize []

an external utility that reads Sailwave files and has 3 levels of
selection.

Kind regards,

Huw

Hello,

In regard to the finding the competition, if you are displaying the Competitor name and or Sail-number can’t you select those columns to Sort then scan down to the alphabetical name or the nuemeric number within the sail number col.

Or have i missed something in the question ???

Hi Antonio.
It depends upon when you want to find them by Name or Sail number.

  • If you are entering results using the Sailno Wizard then yes its very easy. Normally Sailno would be the usual but if you want to enter a name just type * then the name.
  • If you are just looking at the entered competitors you can click on the column header and sort them by sail number or by name and then it is easy to find them.
Having said that I’m currently as it happens working on a filter so that you can filter/search the displayed competitors - Hopefully if nothing gets in the way should have that tomorrow.

For prizes - I personally would use the SWPrize program that I see Huw has mentioned. The alternative with Sailwave is to create another column (that doesn’t get published using any of the fields that you are not using and combine two together eg GBRM, GBRF, USAM, USAF and use this in your selection criteria

Thank you everybody.
Hi Jon, the second case is my problem. If I want to modify one field not visible in the columns, shouldn’t be better to call the edit window competitors, without order by numsail (more of 80 competitor in my series) but typing the numsail with a new function?
For the prize I will use your advice.
Cheers

Antonio,

You can make columns visible or hidden. Click the “Columns” button in the toolbars and then “Edit” the field you are interested in to set the “View” parameter to “Yes” or “No”. I’ve marked each of these with a red dot in the following screen image.

Hope this helps you,

Hi Antonio,

Please give the new version 2.25.4 available from the Sailwave website -Download Beta Versions.

This has a new feature in the ribbon bar where you will find a Search/Filter box where you can enter part of the details of the competitor you are looking for, and then double click on the competitor you wish to edit - if the column you wish to edit is visible then double-clicking on the cell will open the competitor in edit mode and automatically select the correct field for you.

Let me know if this is what you are looking for.

Regards

Jon
