We have received the following mail from our web site hoster. In
theory, better security is good, but can Sailwave support FTP
secure (to a windows server)? I cannot see how to force FTPS in
the Setup/global options/FTP tab. I pushed in the port 990 in the
tab but it then failed to connect.
Yup. Find a different web host. You’ve been caught by the
well-known Microsoft virus: unexpected and unwanted upgrades at all
hours. Try to find a host that runs Linux (about 50% of the
market).
Sorry,

Any suggestions?

Hi Andy, although secure FTP is not directly supported by Sailwave. You have two simple options
a) use the publish to a file on your PC option and then transfer it with SFTP using a program such as core FTP lite which is FOC. This is a simple option and works fine.
b) use the publish to an installed application. WINSCP would be an example. This has been covered in another post by Alan. The file gets automatically passed to the installed application such as winscp and a small script uploads it to your server.

Many thanks to Alan Fuller who set up my Win 7 laptop to overcome the upload problem after our club website was migrated to an “SFTP only” host. Now back up and running. Thanks Alan!
