I am new to Sailwave and so may be asking a very elementary question.
We run a season series consisting of 10 days racing with 10 to 12 races
per day.I wish to carry the results of a days racing over to running
tally for the season results. The result of each day produces a finish
order with 1st 2nd 3rd etc. That days results as a fininhing order is
carried over to the rolling results/tally and the final season result
is a computation of those daily finishing order. Can Sailwave acomplish
this? If so how is the daily series carried over to a season series.
I am new to SailWave also. I score a similar situation as you with multiple race days rolled up together for a seasonal result. I asked for help here on this and got some good advice (Thanks David).
What I did was to keep a series for the entire season, I call it the master. I enter every race into it. Then I save that file once as the master then a second time as the race day. In the race day file, simple delete all but the current days races and score it. That way you have a running seasonal series and individual race day series.

Hi Zedfor
There is an option to Merge information into a Sailwave file from another Sailwave file. Under File Menu click on Merge in another Sailwave series, you then have several options available to you; the one I think you require is the second option “Merge/Match competitors and create a new race using series ranks from the merged series”
Hope you find this useful.
Kind regards,
Huw

I like your approach. You have me thinking.
We too race on weekends then transfer weekend results to a season series. I have never been able to use merge because the SI for the weekend and the season have different objectives. We use different discard and qualification profiles. OOD, DNC mean different things (A9). Weekend guests show up on the weekend results but not the club series. Weekend is USPN. Series has no rating system, “None”.
I just print out the weekend results and manually enter positions into the season series. At that point it goes quickly.
We score the skipper, not the boat, for the series. Folks sail different boats as the season progresses.

Thanks for your inputs on this subject.
You have all pretty well confirmed my fear that, there is no way to
automatically transfer results from the day series to a season series.
Our fleet is effectively a one design and so have no requirement for
handicaps. A simple spread sheet therefore suffices which can
automatically calculate results for the day and then a
simple "values" copy over to a season spread sheet does the rest.
Perhaps I was expecting something of a rather specialized and not
much needed nature.
Sailwave does just about everything for a single series even to the
point of vast variations on the theme and to the point where great
effort is expended by the designer into making it user friendly in
spite of that vast flexibility. But there has to be some limitations!

Hi
I have been using sailwave for the last two years, However in 195b6
the
Merge function that I use extensively is not working correctly
-
Merge /match
competitors will not merge the series ranks from the merged file. Instead of the ranks of competitors,
I am getting all 0’s. (Using Sail number that must match to merge a
competitor)
I have included the two files
I am having a problem with. Test.blw is the file to be merged into the testseries.blw.
I have merged race 3, and as you can see the results are all 0’s. What am
I doing wrong?

much needed nature.
Sailwave does just about everything for a single series even to the point of vast variations on the theme and to the point where great effort is expended by the designer into making it user friendly in spite of that vast flexibility. But there has to be some limitations!

Yes it is scored..
I'm entering scores for us1m, Star 45, S1M as well as the test I sent, and
am getting 0's in all merging operations. Ironically if I merge the points
instead of rank it scores OK

Thanks for the reply
I have still not been able to merge into the series, still all 0's. tried
all your suggestions.
It's ironic that this merge has worked perfectly in all prior versions of
sailwave, even when I switched to Vista. I now am doing the merge manually,
truly a waste of time.

just tick the field "Helm"
I scored Victoria TestSeries before merging....

Hi
I have been using sailwave for the last two years, However in 195b6 the
Merge function that I use extensively is not working correctly
1. Merge /match competitors will not merge the *series ranks* from the
merged file. Instead of the ranks of competitors, I am getting all
0's. (Using Sail number that must match to merge a competitor)I have included the two files I am having a problem with. Test.blw is
the file to be merged into the testseries.blw. I have merged race 3,
and as you can see the results are all 0's. What am I doing wrong?Regards,

Perhaps I was expecting something of a rather specialized and not
much needed nature.Sailwave does just about everything for a single series even to the
