series scoring

Hi All,

I am wondering if it is possible for Sailwave to score a long series that takes place at different venues by scoring the best X out of Y (for example the best 3 out of 5 regattas - NOT individual races)? In the Ontario Windsurfing Circuit the series is advertised as the best 3 of 5 results. There are 5 different regattas across the province and competitors get to count their best 3 of 5 events. Is this type of scoring a possibility? The Sailwave file is posted in the files section under OSA 2012 #2.

Thanks.

Nick Cox

I have the same problem with our series of Opens. I have one Sailwave file in which I record the overall result from each Open, and separate files for each Open showing the individual races. Hmm does that make sense?
I therefore end up with a family of files that are not linked, other than manually.

Hi, we the UK Windsurfing Association UKWA also do the same as Ian, and take the results from each event into a series sailwave file.

You can do this semi automatically by using the copy to clipboard in sailwave and pasting then into excel

which you can then save as a csv and import into the series file with Sailwave.

You can see some samples at www.windsurfingresults.co.uk

I have thought of automating it fully but its not as easy as it sounds because at some events you find windsurfers use a different sail with a different sail number. And at different events they get enter with different spelling of the names or abbreviated names such as Robert orRob or Dick etc. which makes the automation very difficult. Some even change class during the year.
