Set race properties for a series / set default race properties

I suspect I know the answer to this, but I will ask anyway…

I set up an extended series of races with race names, dates, start times etc. But I forgot to set the way in which results are recorded as “elapsed times” rather than “place”. So now I have to go through over 100 races and edit each one.

Is there any way of changing all the starts in a race series to the same result format?

Or alternatively, can I change the default from “place” to “elapsed times” so I don’t make that mistake again?

If you edit a start there is the capability to copy starts. So edit 1 and copy it to the races 2-99

Jon, thanks, I am aware of this but I forgot to do it before I copied all the races and then edited the names dates etc. I only realised my error when I started entering results.

Hi Sandy,

With very careful editing in a text editor (Notepad or Notepad++), not Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer or other word processor, it should be possible to quickly change Place to Elapsed in the appropriate places. More quickly than doing same thing in Sailwave.

If you are cautious about doing such editing, send me (huw at sailwave.com) the Sailwave file and I will do it for you.

I must admit I’d never thought to try and open the blw file in Notepad; I’d always assumed it would not be a human-readable file.

I’ll make some copies for safekeeping and have a go!
