How do I set up a new Series based upon a previous Series. 80% of the competitors remain the same. One or two changes.
Hi John
You could open the existing series and then use the Save as to save it as the new series, and then delete the 20 % of the competitors (or mark them as excluded if you think they may join later in the series)
Then change the Event name etc in the Series Properties
Or you could create a new blank event and use the File - Import competitors from a Sailwave file to import the 80% of competitors that you want
Hope that helps
Hi John,
Firstly welcome to the Sailwave User Group forum.
The simple way is to open the series you want to create the new series from, save it with a new name.
Once you have the new file go Edit menu and select ‘Clear results’ which is the last option.
Now make the competitor changes that you need and also probably change the ‘Series properties’.
Another way is create a new Sailwave file and then use the ‘Import competitors from a Sailwave file’ option on the File menu.
I hope that helps you bu
t if not post a reply.
Kind regards,
Huw
That helps, thank you.
In addition, where competitors would “crawl out of the woodwork” as the series progressed, I used to do the following at each race:
- uncheck “Hide excluded competitors”
- check the “Sail Number” column head. This sorts the entire list of competitors, low to high, excluded or not, by increasing sail number, irrespective of class,
- this makes it very easy to check the list against the race signing on sheet, that a competitor is not excluded, un-exclude any on the list but first time in the series or add any newcomers,
- click “Hide excluded competitors”, to get a manageable list,
- re-sort by fleet and rank.
Hope that might help!
Richard
Thanks for your message but I hope we don’t get into this type of situation. We only have about 10 entries for the series.
Cheers
John
Hi Richard,
FYI - Sailwave automatically unhides a competitor, if they were hidden, when using the Sail Number Wizard and you enter their Sail Number.
Kind regards,
Huw
