Setting up multiple divsions in a 10 race series

I am new to Sailwave I run a summer series that runs 10 weeks. I run one -design and PHRF ToD. I have 2 PHRF fleets divided into 2 divisions each( so A&B) The A divisions sail a longer course than the B divisions. Scoring is using “Elapsed time”

So I understand how to divide the divisions for scoring but how do I get the different mileages in?

Hi Nick,

Firstly welcome to the Sailwave User Group forum.

For each race you need to set-up a start for each division in each race.

Then for for Division A edit there start in each race and enter the race length and the same for Division B. I presume that you have already set-up the scoring changes from the default scoring system for each Division.

If you hover over the box where you enter the distance it gives you a bit more information. However, by default Sailwave assumes nm (nautical miles) if just a number is entered in the box.

I hope that helps but if not feel free to ask follow-up question(s).

Kind regards,
Huw

Ok but I am still lost I have tried to set up a start for Race 1 using Division cell Under test I get no competitors selected. And how do I set up the next Division in this race 1

Ok I got this to work

Not sure what you mean by scoring changes for each division??

Hi Nick

I think Huw was refering to when you click the Score series

If you wish to attach your .blw file we can check what you have.

I’ve upgraded your permissions to allow this

Hi Nick,

Not sure what you mean by scoring changes for each division??

You are scoring a one design fleet which do not need to have a finish or elapsed time entered so their race start configuration would have ‘Finishes recorded as’ Place selected. Where as Division A and Division B would have Finish or Elapsed selected.

As Jon said if you can attach your Sailwave file we can better help you.
Kind regards,
Huw

I tried to load it as an attachment, but it won’t let me I saved the file to my desktop

Hi Nick,

Not exactly sure what your intentions of the groups are but you seem to have a mixture of Fleets and divisions
It is most common but it doesn’t have to be that the scoring group is by Fleets and the starts are by fleets. So I’ve changed it to be based on flights - let me know if this is what you were looking to do

or tell me how you would like it to look

Modified file attached and an html file to show what the results would look like

Ok This won’t work as the “A” boats (both IB and OB ) sail a different (longer) course than the “B” boats. So what I set up since we spoke yesterday 3 Fleets(maybe more) that groups boats by type (IB, OB,A Cat, etc) but the division further divides the PHRF boats by allowance in each fleet. I then set up 3 Starts for each race 1 for IB A and OBA(which sail the same course) 1 for IB B and OB B) which also sail the same (but shorter) course and a third for the A Cats which sail One -design I select my competitors for each start using Division. Then if I score by division (IB A, IB B, OB A and OB B, and A Cat) then everything seems to work.
