Short term development plan

Hi all,

I've indicated what is going to be happening to Sailwave in the short term
in the dev plan. My emhpasis is to get the 'shape' that I've been iterating
towards finished so that I can start writing help.

PS: I'm not sure what short term means, other than as soon as I can! My
wife is going into hospital for a week on Tuesday and apparently she'll be
out of action for six weeks thereafter, so I'll be cooking, cleaning and
washing etc full time. I can imagine it now, "No, you don't do it like
that...!". I had a dream last night about a washing machine that you filled
with clothes, pressed the go button and then emptied it; it worked by going
back in time to do the actual wash; pretty neat... Anyway Sailwave will
come before feeding the kids of course, so we should be OK; I'm sure they'll
survive...

Hi Colin

Had a look at your long term plan & noticed a wish to address Appendices C & D.
Now that is a GREAT BIG chunk of work if you are planning to go the whole hog.

If I am still alive when you get there, let me know as I have lots of info/experience in these areas

Best of luck to you & your wife next week
& don't forget it's the washing machine you kick, not the kids

Regards
Ralph

Colin and Ralph,

Had to lookup "Zimmer" (I know the German word), but please "pencil" me too on App.D....... I don't need the zimmer, but "Handicap sailing" ?

Ralph, how do you do D now?

Take care of your families in the mean time, so take the short time first....

"The book" is made up of a main part, and then several appendixes. Would that be a way of doing SW ? Just a tought....

Regards,
Martin

Hi Martin
Must have seemed rather strange when Colin mentioned that he had pencilled my "room" in ...
Presume you also have zimmer frames for the old & infirm in your country?
I must admit, it does get in the way when I am climbing on to the top of the committee boat cabin to
spot the start line in a Force 5

Re App D, I run a small university team racing event on a round robin, league basis & have developed
my own Excel start schedules for 5 to 18 teams with 2 flights of boats.
Next Year I am told that the university will be using 3 flights so I will have to get the old grey
matter going again to set up 3 flight schedules.

I am also responsible for the NSSA (Schools) Team Racing Championships where we have 32 teams using
the Wilson Trophy Swiss League system http://www.wksc.net/wilsontrophy/pages/index.asp.
Info for this year's NSSA event will be appearing here during the summer http://nssa.org.uk/

This is an outstanding format where there is one single league, teams race against similar
performing teams & we get in some 250+ races over the weekend!!
Bob McPherson (Sail 100 author) has developed a really great program based on Excel to deal with the
results for this special format.
As we move our event to a different host each year (some of whom don't even know what Team racing
is) I have written a comprehensive event management manual which is available if anyone would like a
copy

Regards
Ralph
