Spinnaker or non spinnaker

Hello!
As part of our Bart’s Bash weekend we are organising a double hander race for cruisers, and participants can declare spinnaker or non spinnaker. How do I enter this in Sailwave please? The cruisers use the Poole Harbour Handicap System (PHHS). Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Susan,

Before knowing how/what to enter in Sailwave, there is a

question! Are the boats all being scored together or are they
separated into being scored spinnaker and non-spinnaker fleets?

If they are all being scored together then those not using a

spinnaker should have a different rating and therefore all that
needs doing is determining the rating value for sailing without a
spinnaker.

If being scored as separate fleets where those declaring

no-spinnaker use their normal PHHS, then you will set the value
in the Fleet column to NoSpinn and those using spinnakers to
Spinn in the Fleet column.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards,

Huw

Many thanks for your quick reply Huw. I need to ask the Sailing Secretary about the scoring.

Best regards,

Susan

Do you have different ratings for them with and without spinnaker.

Unfortunately not, and PHHS ratings are hard to calculate, I think.

One way is to enter as different classes - e.g. Hunter S and Hunter
NS.
But, for Barts Bash, they use a different scoring system.

Many thanks Huw! I have asked our Sailing Secretary for guidance. Looking back at the 2017 results I see that there were only 3 competitors and there was no mention of spinnakers. I will let you all know what transpires!

Regards,

Susan
