split fleets/seeding

I think I may be asking too much of the programme with this one and
my question may also have been answered in November, but always the
optimist so here goes.

We are expecting a fleet of up to 200(+) sailors who will be then be
split into 4 fleets, for arguments sake lets say
Red,Yellow,Green,Blue. These groups then race each other with 2
flights per starting sequence. E.g. Blue/Red and Yellow/Green in the
first 2 flights and then Blue/Yellow and red/Green in the next.

After the first 2 days of racing (or 6 races), the provisional
results are published and used to re-draw (seed) the entire fleet
into new groups of Red,Yellow,Green,Blue. These new groups then start
a new set of round robin races until a full set of either 12 or 15 is
completed.

Their individual score after the first two days is carried forward so
that each sailor starts the second part of the regatta with their
total provisional score at that point. Drops come at two points
during the regatta, usually after race 6 and 10.The sailors are aslo
split by nationality, gender and age.

Ideally we are wanting sailwave to carry the full set of results
forward without having to manually reload after the fleets are
redrawn. We are also wanting to publish a daily set of results for
both the National and Open Regatta (nationality). Can we do it?

I have used sailwave for many large regatta and love it. Hope we can
try and use it for this one. Not sure what version the club has
(Kohimarama YC) but can download the latest for this regatta.

Thanks

Hi,

Sailwave can do much of you want. You can score flights by setting the race tie option to None (Appendix KE) - that allows you to enter multiple ists etc. Then you create starts in each race telling Sailwave which flights are in each start. When you enter the results by sail number Sailwave knows enough to allocate the correct next place. This was done recently at the Opti Europeans. What you can't do is take the results after N races and then doing things differently - the approach is to use N series for qualifiers, and finals etc. What you can do in Sailwave is load up a race with results from the final results of another series which is useful in this respect. Anders may have a series that you can use as an example.
