SRS - still racing score

Just wondering if possible to write a rule for still racing
score (SRS). This code is used in New Zealand for the Optimist fleet to
encourage the sailors who have stuck it out on the course trying to finish
whilst others may have gone into shore and receive a DNF. The sailor can apply
for a SRS, and if the race committee believe the sailor was trying to finish
the race but was outside the 20 minutes they will grant this score. The score is number of finshers + 3, but not more than DNF. We currently
do this by hand.

It does get a little complicated when you are running 3
flights (as we do in our Nationals), and the score needs to be: Points for the place of: (the biggest
number of finishers in a flight in a race, + N places, but not more than DNF)

Keen to hear if this is possible.

Many thanks

Clare

Hi Clare,

I think your question is one for Jon who now maintains and adds new

functionality to Sailwave. There is an a method option to award
points for the number of finishers + N points but not
the number of finishers in the largest start in a race * +
N points*.

So when running more than one flight it is not currently possible in

Sailwave to create a scoring code that will automatically give you
what you would like.

Jon is working on the next release of Sailwave and may be able to

squeeze in the additional scoring method functionality, but it will
be at least a week before the next release is available due to other
commitments not related to Sailwave. Sailwave development is a part
time activity, although sometimes in feels full-time, as Jon has a
full-time job.

I expect Jon will respond as well.
Kind regards,
Huw

Hi Huw & Jon,

Thanks for considering this, no rush we are heading into winter and the next regatta with flights isn’t until Nov.

Just for clarity it is the largest number of finishers in a start ( it doesn’t relate to the largest start in the flight)

Appreciate all the efforts put into Sailwave.

Kind regards

Clare
